MUSIC VIDEO PREMIERE

Our music video for "Make Your Home (Smell Delicious)" is having its world premiere RIGHT NOW at artistdirect.com.

Check it out:

Make Your Home (Smell Delicious)

From the final track off of the new album, The Adventures of You Me & Iowa.

Directed by Matthew Knudsen, the video is one six minute long shot with no camera tricks or special effects. It took an immense crew of about 60 people to pull this one off. We're quite proud of how it turned out.
We'll be posting some more pictures from the film set soon.

One All-Star Lanes Show Cancelled, another All-Star Lanes Show Announced!

Hey guys,

We're sorry to announce that we've had to cancel our show at All-Star Lanes in Echo Park on the 19th, because of a family emergency.

But...

The good news is we're playing another show at the same venue 10 days later! Who would have thought.

It's a free show at the All-Star Lanes bowling alley in Echo Park with a ton of other bands, and it's being put on by the Glassell Park Kickballers (which we've been known to join from time to time). Actually, ironically, my huge bruise from the last kickball game hasn't faded yet.

Other bands playing the night:

Le Switch, The Henry Clay People, I Make This Sound, The Flying Tourbillon Orchestra, Tandemoro, Les Blanks, The Hectors, The Voyeurs, Swim Party, Marvelous Toy, The Damselles & The TC4, and Nathan Wasilewski

Northern California Superstitions

To celebrate our show this Friday, the 13th at The Phoenix in Petaluma (and an in store performance at The Last Music Store in Santa Rosa earlier that day), I've made up a list of my top 3 superstitions about Friday the 13th in Northern California.

3. Good luck: Knocking on the wood of a redwood tree. Bad luck: knocking down a redwood tree with incessant good luck knocking.

2. Good luck: walking in the rain. Bad luck: remembering how actual weather didn't use to bother you until Los Angeles spoiled you.

1. Superstitious repetition: If you say "Hella" thirteen times in a row, Schwarzenegger will punch you in your face.

Come hang out with us if you're up in Petaluma this Friday! It's bad luck if you don't...

USC Show and Last Weekend's Party

So I have to tell you a bit about what happened to us last Saturday:

We were invited to play an acoustic set at a mansion party in the valley a couple days earlier. Of course, we're not normally an acoustic band by any means, so the next few days were a mad scramble to "jazz-ify" our songs. However, I was really pleased with how it turned out, as chilled-out versions of Dress The Stage, Tommy Hall, The Good, The Bad, and The Beautiful, Goldfish, and Valhalla are actually quite awesome to hear.

Murakami Exhibit Show

This is rad. If you get a chance to check out the Murakami exhibit at MOCA in Los Angeles, you should definitely go. Or come along to our free show there Saturday night. It's part of an event called Eye Candy, and it's a teen night where people can exhibit their art, make art, and generally get involved in the art world. The event is for teens 15-19, but I'm sure people of all ages can come and check out the show.

Check out MOCA's website for more details.

Starting off 2008 with a blast

Man, last weekend's Spaceland show was awesome. There are certain times when you can just feel the energy in the air, built up by all the bands present and culminating in a rock-out that left my neck sore for days after. But it's a good hurt. A satisfying memory. A great show.

Thanks so much to Signal Hill, Thailand, and Calamity Magnet for amazing performances, and we were honored to be a part of Calamity Magnet's first show!

But without a skip or a breather, we're off to Orange County this Saturday (the 12th) to play The Galaxy Theatre. Here are the deets:

Saturday, Jan 12 2008
8:00 PM @ The Galaxy Theater
3503 S. Harbor Blvd., Santa Ana, California USA
With Porterville, The Randies, Blush, and Mermer
price: $10

Send us an email if you want to reserve tickets:

CONTEST: NAME A YOU ME & IOWA SONG!

The Adventures of You Me & Iowa is coming soon! Before it's released, WE NEED YOUR HELP.

This is your assignment, should you choose to accept it: One track from the forthcoming record is still unnamed. We've posted the untitled song on our myspace page. Listen to it. The winner will get his or her name in the album credits, a free CD, a free t-shirt, our eternal gratitude and best of all, YOUR IDEA will forever be in print on a You Me & Iowa album!

Send your ideas to us with the heading: "CONTEST". Please message us your ideas, don't leave them as comments. Enter as many song titles as you'd like. The contest will last until we find the winning song title.

"Good luck, and may The Force be with you."

Shirts A'Sellin

We are temporarily out of Men's Large Slate shirts... Apparently there were a bunch of big dudes at our last show that snatched up the rest of them. So all big dudes, you're gonna have to settle for Blue or Creme for the time being until we get some more in.

Recording Has Been Finished

A gaggle of newly-recorded songs are now on their way to the east coast, where they will get their hair cut, faces shaved, and an overall spit-shine. Stay tuned.

We've got some polaroids of our last couple days in the studio, but instead of being computerized... they are, in fact, analog. I mean they're right here, sitting on a table. I wish I could show you all, but I tried to shove them into the computer but it didn't quite work. Maybe we'll invest in some sort of "Scanner", which I hear can help with situations like these.
